About the Delta Resource Center for Independent Living Executive Director: Billy Altom It is the mission of the Delta Resource Center to Provide services, support and advocacy which enables people with severe disabilities to live as independently as possible within their family and community. Delta strives to achieve full integration of persons with disabilities into the mainstream of society. Information and ReferralDelta provides information about disability issues and disability organizations of all types for persons with disabilities, their families, and the general public. By maintaining a data bas of information, Delta is able to refer persons with disabilities to the appropriate agency or service that will assist them in achieving independence. Peer CounselingAn avenue in which people with disabilities can receive support and guidance in developing effective ways to deal with the architectural and attitudinal barriers they face in everyday life. Individual AdvocacyIndividual advocacy is ways in which to empower individuals to speak on their own behalf, provide information, assistance working with systems, and empowering techniques so individuals may advocate for themselves to achieve system change. Independent Living Skills TrainingDelta provides instruction and training which enables a person with a disability to live independently and control his/her life. This training is unique to the individual's personalized needs. ADA InformationDelta provides answers to questions about the landmark civil rights legislation for people with disabilities.
